Alan Checkett has worked within the industry for 43 years.   After gaining experience and training with Rentokil he formed his own company based in the Midlands in 1969, and opened further branches in the middle and late 1970's.
He has been actively involved in promoting the Association as Midland Area Chairman, and also serving on several Committees and Council of the BWPDA and PCA.
Alan was also Chairman of the Remedial Installers Committee for 10 years.  During this period the Association moved from London to Derby, and also saw through a smooth transition from a charity organisation to a trade association.
He has and will always try to preserve the interests of the smaller companies in the Association.

Andrew Bradshaw is a founder partner of RTC, a remedial contractor based in Blackpool, Lancashire.

RTC specialise in basement and structural waterproofing, the diagnosis and treatment of rising dampness, wood destroying insects and fungi and cavity wall tie corrosion.

RTC have been a member of the association for many years and pride themselves on the standards set by the association and by themselves.

Andrew has been heavily involved with the association for a number of years and his roles have included being Northern Area Chairman and sitting on the Remedial Installers Committee.

Andrew was also responsible for the introduction of the Survey Competence Certificates which were distributed by the association and proved to be a valued asset for member companies With his involvement on the council, he his hoping to help further increase the reputation of the association and the industry in general.

Brian Davison has been involved in the preservation and waterproofing industry for the past 38 years, with such companies as Sovereign Chemicals, Safeguard Chemicals, John Newton & Co Ltd and DELTA Membrane Systems Ltd.

He is currently, and has been for the past 12 years, co-founder and owner of Delta Membrane Systems Ltd., dealing totally with waterproofing systems and solutions.  During this time he has been involved in varying degrees with technical committees for BSI, BCDA, BWPDA / PCA, and has been involved in the structural waterproofing exam, C.S.S.W., as an examiner since its inception in 2005.

Brian's aim is to promote the PCA and its members in any way possible and hope that the membership prosper from it.

Deputy Chairman: Les entered the construction industry as a trainee Q.S. at the tender age of 15 y.o. At 21 Les was given the opportunity to join a national Preservation Company as a surveyor, progressing in time through all levels of management to Director level, during which time Les became an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Building ( A.C.I.O.B), CSRT and obtained a diploma in marketing (M.C.I.M.)

Being made redundant in 1996, Les established his own preservation company in Scotland and has built it up to a turnover in excess of £5m with over 85 employees working from 8 locations throughout Scotland with 2 more planned as he endeavours to make Wise Property Care Scotland's leading Preservation Company.

Les is also a business mentor with Scottish Enterprise and also mentors secondary school pupils with "issues".

As a long term Scottish chairman of the BWPDA and recently Director of the PCA, Les firmly believes in contributing to his local community and trade association.

Chairman: Martin Hughes, Director, Catrake Ltd. t/as Yorkshire Dampcourse (YDC) and Associated Preservation Systems, Leeds, West Yorkshire. Martin Hughes has been in damp proofing for 16 years. He has an honours degree in Agriculture from Reading University and so has a science background. His first job was with milking machines, then printing and packaging and then into damp proofing.

Before YDC, he was in a large corporation, where he finished up as general manager of their largest factory. He got there through sales and marketing roles. The marketing job gave him some experience in the acquisition and running of small companies. In 2000 he was able to buy out another local competitor, Associated Preservation Systems, and at then end of 2006, former member, A.J. Thorpe Preservation also joined the group, on the retirement of its owner.

He was co-opted onto PCA Council in September 2006, and elected as a full member in May 2007. Recently, after the retirement of the last chairman, PCA Council asked him to take the position of Acting Deputy Chairman.  He was elected Deputy Chairman in May 2008.

From this position he will champion the role and interests of the smaller, single site, independent companies and work with PCA Council to bring about beneficial changes to PCA, ensuring value for money from subscriptions, and keeping members informed.

Paul Hamilton's experience in the remedial industry started approximately thirty years ago, as a remedial technician at the age of twenty. After a period of time he became a surveyor within the same company.

Paul Hamilton's experience in the remedial industry started approximately thirty years ago, as a remedial technician at the age of twenty.  After a period of time he became a surveyor within the same company.

In 1992 along with his wife he started a remedial treatment company.  This company is successfully operating though-out the Midlands.  In 1996 he obtained his CSRT qualification.

He started as a freelance surveyor within the industry in 2001.  Handing over responsibility to his wife for the running of the remedial treatment company they had started together.

In January 2007 he became the first freelance surveyor member of the P.C.A.

Paul specializes in dampness, timber infestation and fungal decay within all types of properties, from the small mid terrace to the large stately home.

As a freelance surveyor he works for a number of P.C.A. member companies as well as specifiers, property developers and the general public.

Born in South Africa in 1947, Phil Hewitt was educated in the UK at Highgate School in North London.

Born in South Africa in 1947, Phil Hewitt was educated in the UK at Highgate School in North London.

Returning to South Africa in 1966, he qualified as a Civil Engineer. He has been involved in contracting in both the Civil Engineering and Building industries, and ran his own construction company in South Africa for several years.

He also lectured in Civil Engineering, specialising in Theory of Structures, Structural Design and Hydraulics.

Since returning to the UK in 1986, Phil has specialised in structural waterproofing and damp-proofing, and is today considered to be one of the leading technical figures in the industry.

He is a past chairman of the British Structural Waterproofing Association, and is also very active in the Property Care Association, where he chaired a sub-committee responsible for producing a Code of Practice for Waterproofing. He has been chairman of the BWPDA Remedial Treatment Technical Committee, the Structural Waterproofing Group, and the Associates (Consultants) Committee. He is currently a member of the Property Care Association's Council.

Phil was Technical Manager at Vandex for eight years, and has an exceptional knowledge of cementitious systems. However, the work he has done in the past means he also has an excellent working knowledge of all waterproofing systems.

Phil was involved in various projects around the UK, including Sewage and Water Treatment Plants, Reservoirs, North Sea oil rigs, and the Channel Tunnel. Phil Hewitt Associates was formed in January 1997, to take advantage of Phil's own specialist knowledge, as well as the knowledge of various others of his associates who will be working with him from time to time.

Ken has spent over 40 years in the Preservation industry, starting as a Technician with Rentokil in 1969 he is now the owner of a successful member company operating in the Channel Islands. Ken, who works and resides in Guernsey is also an Associate of the Institute of Wood Science.
