Condensation and Dampness in Buildings Workshop
This one-day course (09.30 - 16.30) aims to provide information and guidance on the problems of condensation and its relationship with toxic mould. Candidates will learn how to recognize the symptoms of condensation, water penetration and damp and identify the causes and provide the remedies.

- Methods of measuring and assessing moisture
- Moisture meters and Carbide meters
- Gravimetric methods
- Environmental moisture
- Contaminant salts
- Condensation compared to other sources of dampness
- Understanding relative humidity, vapour pressure and environmental moisture
- Water vapour in buildings and its origin
- Mould growth, biology of mould and toxic moulds.
- Measuring environmental moisture
- Hygrometers, surface temperature thermometers, data loggers
- Assessment of collected data
- Case studies
- Practical assessment of environmental moisture
- Use of hygrometers, surface temperature thermometers and data loggers
- Practical assessment of data
