New Video Signposts The Public To A Trusted Professional In The Building Preservation Industry

UK trade body The Property Care Association (PCA) has produced a video to help signpost homeowners to building preservation specialists with proven levels of competency and quality.

Working within the areas of damp control, timber infestation, flood recovery, basement waterproofing, structural repair and condensation, members of the PCA need to measure-up to challenging standards to be admitted into the Association.

Then, once in membership, they need to adhere to stringent, ongoing verification checks to retain their status.

The video, available to view online at www.property-care.org/video-folder/pca-member-video urges consumers to look out for members bearing the distinctive PCA logo, to carry out works in these specialist areas.

.

Steve Hodgson, general manager of the PCA, said: “When choosing a member of the PCA, consumers can be certain that they have undergone rigorous, ongoing checks to achieve and retain membership.

“An expert assessor with a wealth of experience and technical knowledge has audited every member and checked the quality of work on site, carrying out comprehensive technical, financial and operational verification visits.

“As a result all members are qualified and operate within established companies – and are able to offer a high quality service and peace of mind that can be supported by independently insured guarantees.”

Noted for its training and technical expertise, the PCA incorporates the BWPDA and has been in existence for 75 years.

The trade body is run by a dedicated team from its headquarters in Huntingdon, and is noted for its industry-specific expertise, with a recognised training programme and a renowned technical panel able to share best practice and guidance with members.

The PCA is also a member of Trustmark, the Government-backed scheme, which aims to help consumers find reliable and trustworthy tradesmen when making improvements or repairs to their homes.

Martin Hughes, chairman of the PCA, said: “Selecting a PCA member means consumers benefit from choosing a specialist who has already proved their ability.

“That tradesperson or company has put themselves through a rigorous process to be accepted into membership of the Association, and then continued to deliver a competent and quality service to maintain that membership.

“Ultimately the PCA offers a trusted route to find a bona fide contractor.”
