International cricketer Alec Stewart bowled over guests as the keynote speaker at the Property Care Association’s annual awards.
Alec’s career spanned 20 years in County and International cricket – and with 133 Test Caps, he is England's most capped Test cricketer of all time.
The awards – now in their second year - were presented at a special evening ceremony, held at Lord’s Cricket Ground, in St John’s Wood, London.
An independent panel judged the awards – which were open to PCA members only - consisting of Peter Darling, a freelance technical journalist, Graham Perrior of the National House-Building Council, and Paul Handy, Director of Charles Taylor Adjusting.
The winners were;
David Hockey of Trace - Certificated Surveyor In Remedial Treatment (CSRT) Student of the Year – sponsored by Yell
Neil Marsden of Marsden Preservation – Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing (CSSW) Student of the Year - sponsored by Delta
Frankie Toner of Toner Damp Proofing - Technician of the Year –sponsored by Stallard Kane Associates.
The Wykamol Group - Training Award – sponsored by GPT Ltd
(Highly Commended in this category were Brick-Tie Preservation)
Watertight International Flood Protection - Innovation Award – sponsored by Yell.
Also at the event, the Association marked the end of Mark Edwards’ chairmanship of the PCA, with a gift presentation.
An Honorary Membership of the Association was also presented to Ray Wright.
Operating across the UK, the PCA is the trade body for contractors and surveyors specialising in structural waterproofing, wood preservation, damp-proofing, flood remediation and structural repair.
The PCA Awards reward the cream of UK businesses working in the building preservation and protection sector.
