Trade Body Launches Bursary Programme for Building Preservation and Protection Sectors
National trade body The Property Care Association (PCA) has unveiled a bursary scheme to support the next generation of professionals in the building preservation and protection sectors.
The new programme is designed to promote and support study, learning and research across the association’s range of specialist activities.
Plans for the bursary were first discussed at the PCA’s annual general meeting, held in March 2014.
Since then the trade body has put together a comprehensive programme, designed to recognise talent in the industry – and share knowledge with a wider audience.
Steve Hodgson, Chief Executive of the PCA, said: “This is an exciting new capability, which will undoubtedly bring rewards for years to come.
“As part of the terms of the programme, students who are awarded these discretionary bursaries must agree to use the knowledge and research they have gained to inform, educate and promote the rest of the membership and use their acquired knowledge and skills to benefit the association.”

The bursary scheme enhances a strong ethic of professional development within the PCA.
An awards ceremony is held annually by the association to recognise best practice across the industry, while a CPD programme launched in 2012 provides a structured framework for PCA members who endeavour to develop their skills and knowledge in a way that can be easily verified and demonstrated.
The PCA is also recognised as a leading provider of training and certification activities, an area of the trade body’s work which has shown considerable year-on-year growth.
Targeted at members and non-members alike, the training is being enhanced in 2015 when the association’s new training centre, being built near its headquarters in Huntingdon, is officially opened.
