The Assessed Surveyor in Remedial Treatment (ASRT) qualification is for those surveyors who prefer to demonstrate their competence as surveyors by practical assessment, rather than examination. The assessor is appointed by the Institute of Specialist Surveyors and Engineers.
The assessor accompanies the candidate on a ‘live’ survey and makes an inspection of previous reports and assesses the candidate’s specialist knowledge.
Once the assessor is satisfied with the candidate’s standard of work and knowledge of remedial surveying and treatment, the Institute of Wood Preservation and Damp-proofing is notified and the ASRT certificate awarded.
The ASRT qualification is recognised by the PCA as an alternative route to be taken by companies to meet its requirement of employing qualified surveyors.
If you wish to discuss whether the ASRT or CSRT route is right for you, please contact the PCA.
