Structural Waterproofing Course

This 3-day course is run in a three-day block. Attendance on this course by delegates from members companies will provide underpinning knowledge to prepare for the Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing exam (CSSW). Achievement of this qualification is a requirement for membership of the PCA Structural Waterproofing Group and provides eligibility for issuing GPI guarantees for waterproofing.

Day 1 - Basic Principles of Structural Waterproofing

Day 2 - Surveying, Reporting and Quoting

  • Assessing ground conditions and structure
  • Preparing a report
  • Quoting
  • Basic Contract Law

Day 3 - Principles and Application of Cementitious and Cavity Drain Systems

  • General principles of cementitious systems - sand/cement mixes, hydration, curing, shrinkage, bonding, wall/floor junctions
  • Cavity drains - fixing, lapping, sumps & pumps, wall/floor junctions
  • General points for both systems - fixings, decoration
