How is this training structured?

This is a one day training seminar that provides an update on good practice and the latest BS8485 Standard and CIRIA C735 guidance on gas protection measures.

The day is divided into four units, with Unit 4 comprising a practical demonstration section.

Unit 1: Hazardous Gases

  • Introduction to the hazards of ground gases
  • Basic principles of ground gases
  • Consideration of current guidance and regulation

Unit 2: Principles of gas protection

  • High level design and available gas protection technologies
  • Ventilation considerations, membrane design and specification
  • Membrane installation and examples of good and bad practice

Unit 3: Verification

  • Role in project sign off
  • Discussion of the implications and requirements of C735
  • Common issues
  • Independent verification engineers and installation competency
  • Dealing with damage caused by follow-on trades

Unit 4: Practical demonstration

  • Demonstration of good practice gas membrane installation
  • Jointing membranes, detailing to pipes, corners and the retro fitting of membranes to existing buildings
  • Installation practices based on the NOS working towards QCF units 612 and 613
  • Independent verification engineers and installation competency
  • Dealing with damage caused by follow-on trades

Important Note:
This training course is not part of any NVQ Level 2 qualification. Attendees will not be entitled to claim any formal qualification as a result of attending. At the end of the training day attendees will receive an attendance certificate only.
