While in the UK for the PCA International Conference on Moisture in Buildings (12th May), the leading industrial hygienist, Caoimhin Connell, will deliver a special one day seminar on 17th May 2016.

“Indoor Fungi – An Industrial Hygiene Perspective” will provide an insightful introduction to standard terms and concepts used in the evidence-based Industrial Hygiene profession when addressing concerns about indoor mould exposures.

Who should attend?
This event is relevant to professionals working in environmental health, local authorities and social housing, as well as insurers, surveyors, property managers, those in damp and timber related occupations and flood recovery specialists.

Topics to be explored will include:

  1. An introduction to moulds – basics, diversity and classification;
  2. Understanding toxicology and epidemiology (health related factors) of fungi;
  3. Control – identifying the causes of problems, sources of moisture and identifying effective and economical control measures.

About the seminar presenter:  Caoimhín P. Connell has been a practicing Occupational Hygienist since the late 1980’s and currently is a principle with Forensic Applications Consulting Technologies, Inc. (FACT) located in Colorado, USA.  Caoimhín practices in several areas of Occupational Hygiene including occupational exposures to sound, ergonomics, microbial assessments, chemical exposures, analytical chemistry, and indoor air quality.   FACT provides occupational hygiene services throughout the US and abroad.

Caoimhín has testified before Colorado legislature on occupational hygiene issues and has successfully testified in US Federal Civil Courts and US Federal Criminal Courts on mould related issues.
