About the presenter – Dr Peter Fitzsimons

Peter joined the Property Care Association as Technical Manager for the Invasive Weed sector in April 2018. He studied Botany at University College London (he won’t say when, it was a long time ago!) followed by 9 years research in Dundee & Nottingham, working on various aspects of plant cell growth regulation and herbicide action/interaction.

His research interests took him into the construction chemicals industry where he spent 20 years as Technical Manager/Director (wood protection).

Today, Peter represents the PCA on all matters relating to invasive weed control. He is actively involved in keeping the Invasive Weed Technical library up-to-date. Also liaising with external stakeholders, providing input to standards development within the construction sector and with Government agencies.

The PCA's ongoing drive for best practice

Ongoing professional development is a key remit of the Property Care Association to drive forward best practice in the specialised invasive weed industry.

Working with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) - supported by the Council of Mortgage Lenders and The Building Societies Association - the Property Care Association set up the Invasive Weed Control Group in back in 2012 which is still going strong today.

Over the years, the group has provided guidance and expertise to all who manage invasive weeds offering high levels of technical knowledge and practical skill. To find out more, click to view the video:
