Journal of Building Survey, Appraisal & Valuation

Many of you will be aware that Positive Input ventilation can be a useful tool in the control of condensation and mould. We have previously reported on what we believe is unbalanced criticism of PIV Systems in PAS 2035 and BEIS' Guidance Document. In response to this, the Property Care Association produced a joint position statement with FEMA and BEEMA, to highlight the merits of these types of ventilation systems.

At the time we indicated our desire to see more academic research into their use, and we are pleased to share that we have had a paper accepted into the Journal of Building Survey, Appraisal & Valuation: "Can positive input ventilation tackle surface condensation and mould growth? Literature review and case study of a UK dwelling".

We hope articles like this will help act as a catalyst for further research.

You may have seen across our social channels the volume of guidance, tips, CPD material, blogs, webinars and a new training course we have shared to help both homeowners and professionals, develop their understanding and knowledge of invasive plants.

We also shared the programme for this years Invasive Weed Conference, which is shaping up fantastically well. If you haven't seen it yet, check out the webpage and 'Early Bird' ticket prices via the button below....

Dampness is back in the news - again!

Last Friday we shared an article from the BBC which reported on a tenant's claim that 'supposedly' cavity wall insulation had led to nearly a decade of damp conditions in his flat. Over the weekend, we read similar damp-related stories across many other channels too.

For those who may not have seen it, this article highlights the urgency and importance of conducting a comprehensive diagnostic assessment at the earliest possible stage, to detect problems and identify solutions promptly. The Property Care Association continues to reiterate that our members have the specialist skills and knowledge to properly understand the causes and remedies of dampness.

Mental Health Awareness Week

This week is also Mental Health Awareness Week and a reminder for us all to keep talking about what makes us anxious, how can we manage stress, and how we can promote a healthier workplace.

As many of you will be aware, we all have a legal duty to protect employees from stress and should be including it in workplace risk assessments. For more information and to access helpful guidance, simply click on the button below...
