Understanding 'significance' in the built environment - #IPCC2022

We are pleased to share our next video release from the recent '2022 Property Care Conference'.

Following on from the 'Joint Statement' video from last week on accessing moisture within traditional buildings, Prof John Edwards reviews the requirement that surveying, property & building professionals need to consider “significance” when accessing a building. Watch the video to see how this may be considered, recorded, and acted upon.

Hodgson View: The consequences of fuel cost anxiety

In his latest 'Hodgson View', your CEO Steve Hodgson comments on his own recent experience of condensation within his home. Why exactly did it occur and is it a telling sign of the consequences of fuel cost anxiety? If so, does it mean that our prediction back in January 2022 relating to the problem was severely understated?

My first few weeks and the opportunities ahead

The newest member of the PCA team, Daniel Docking, has been with us for a few weeks now. So, what are his thoughts so far and what challenges and opportunities does he foresee in the future? Well, he's put pen to paper in his first blog for the Association which members can read by clicking on the button below...

Get your Plant ID app ready! - #IIWC2022

For those yet to book their place at the conference, what else can you expect from the day's event? Why not test your plant identification skills and put your Plant ID app to the test?!

Simply bring your smartphone and your favourite and most trusted app along to the conference and test it out on the plants during the lunchtime session! Dr Karen Bacon, from NUI Galway, will analyse the information collected to feed back the results from the various ID apps in the afternoon of the conference and award a prize - and yes, it could be you!

Maintenance Week 2022

We want to make members aware that your Association will be helping to support the 'Society for Protection of Ancient Buildings' (SPAB) annual Maintenance Week campaign from 18th-25th November.  We hope many of our PCA members (and many other professionals) may join in on this campaign.

The PCA will be sharing a host of valuable & helpful information across the week through multiple channels on areas of maintenance such as condensation, ventilation, dampness, flooding and mould...but we encourage all our PCA members to do the same too.

Feel free to share any of our content, but we also encourage you to create or reuse your own content to spread and share good knowledge with homeowners on how to keep on top of general property maintenance.

Next webinar - Electronic Leak Detection Systems

Our next and last LIVE Webinar for 2022 is now less than 3 weeks away.  This time, we are following and expanding on a presentation from the 2022 Structural Waterproofing Conference - 'The Advantages & Use of Electronic Leak Detection Systems'.

Join us on Thursday 1st December as we take a more extensive look at how leak detection systems are helping building, surveying & construction professionals detect waterproofing issues within new builds, existing buildings, podium decks and basements.

HSE's Accident Book

For both PCA members and other professionals that may not have this already, HSE has recently pushed out a reminder that their 'Accident Book' is available. This is considered a valuable document that you can use to record accident information.

The Accident Book can be used to record details of all work-related accidents, including injuries from accidents at work that employers must report under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 (RIDDOR).

The book contains 50 perforated accident record forms and is designed to support those that use it in complying with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

There is a small charge of £6.67+vat, but for those that are interested, you can click on the button below to find out more.
