What's changed for the IWCG in 10 years?

You may have seen the social posts and comms this week as the PCA celebrate 10 years since the formation of the Invasive Weed Control Group. Whilst we know we have some way to go to catch up with some of our other sector groups, there has been plenty of change for the IWCG, which PCA's Technical Manager Peter reflects on in his latest blog. Building Envelope Research Network

Earlier this year the Property Care Association was part of UCL BERN's engagement workshops, together with 20 other high-level external stakeholders from the building envelope community. We are very pleased that PCA members and their role within the industry is recognised by this advisory board. The building envelope at UCL is spread across several different groups, bringing these groups and their research together. You can read the briefing document, which includes a quote from CEO Steve Hodgson, via the button below.

BS 40104: Standard on Assessment of Dwellings for Retrofit

The first meeting of the drafting group for this potentially important, new British Standard began last week. There is an expectation that by 2035 most residential dwellings will have a medium-term, whole house retrofit plan, in place. This will require that each of these buildings will need an assessment of condition. Moisture risk and internal air quality are at the heart of these considerations. This new standard is aiming to set out the things that should be looked at and fixed before energy saving measures are delivered and the skills of those doing the inspections. We are very pleased to have been invited to contribute to what may prove to be a very important document for those who specialise in moisture control and diagnostics. The PCA is planning on putting together supporting documents/information that will include a review from Technical Manager James Berry. For those that may be interested, we are also hosting a live webinar in April on this 'New 8102 Update - will it change our view of waterproofing?'.
