PCA attends L&G conference

Last Friday the PCA team were delighted to be asked to support the Legal & General surveyors conference as their guests. The event, held at the National Space Centre in Leicester, was well attended and we were made to feel very welcome. The events programme featured a number of very interesting speakers including Right Move, who gave a particularly interesting report on their expectations for the housing market in 2022. Using incredibly detailed analytics, they predict markets will remain very active with house prices continuing to rise, despite cost of living increases. It was conceded that there is a great many events that could knock these optimistic predictions off course, but the take home message was pretty positive. Another interesting insight centred around the nature of complaints. It would appear the changing nature of rainwater events is resulting in an increasing number of disputes associated with water penetration, whilst clients with issues relating to ground water rise seems to be decreasing. A further sign perhaps that climate change is influencing the way we consider dampness in buildings...

Energy Bills Rebate - Is it enough?

Was yesterday's announcement from Chancellor Rishi Sunak, of an upfront discount of £200 on household energy bills, the welcomed rebate we were all hoping for? Is this enough recognition from the Government to alleviate the pressure on mounting energy prices? CEO Steve Hodgson touched on this issue some weeks back in his 'Hodgson View' and the irreversible damage this will have on our homes, our health and our wellbeing.
