Safe and Sustainable Use of Herbicides

Our “Safe and Sustainable Use of Herbicides” course is ideal for all involved in weed management. This provides existing herbicide technicians with an opportunity to refresh their National Proficiency Test Council (NPTC)/Lantra basic training and, for others, an introduction to the world of herbicides.

This is tailored CPD training for all those working in the Invasive Weed sector to not only develop knowledge, but ensure standards are upheld. What’s more, this is available now and is FREE CPD Training for PCA Members ONLY! This course is open to non-PCA members and ALL candidates can claim 6 BASIS points too!

Who is the Herbicides training course for?

Covering all aspects of herbicide use, this course is perfect for anyone involved in invasive weed control who wish to update their knowledge and skills. However, admin/surveyor staff will also find it a useful introduction to herbicides and their use and we encourage all to register.

This is a great way to access training as the remote format enables candidates to complete the modules at their own pace, either in an office or home environment. We estimate this will take candidates approximately 4 hours, which can be completed consecutively or at varying times over the 7 day period.

Structure of online Herbicides training

The “Safe and Sustainable Use of Herbicides” course is divided into three modules:

Module 1: Herbicide Products
  • Herbicide Products: Legal framework, Approvals and Controls
  • Product Labels
  • Integrated Weed Management
Module 2: Application Methods and Equipment
  • Application Equipment
  • Site Preparation
  • Herbicide Application
Module 3: Record keeping & Waste Management
  • Records of Use
  • Post Application
  • Waste Handling

After each module there will be opportunities to complete a short on-line quiz, comprising of questions based on the module they have just taken. Candidates will see immediately if they have answered correctly, and if not, are able to answer the question again before moving on.

At the end of all three modules there will be a test for those who wish to obtain a CPD certificate which helps them meet the requirements of the Amenity Standard.
