Welcome to our CPD scheme - for PCA Members only

For all PCA members only, the Property Care Association offers a Continous Professional Development (CPD) scheme for all employees of member companies to demonstrate their credentials to customers. The Association has a variety of ways to build up your CPD records, including events, meetings, conferences and webinars; but you can also gain points by demonstrating attendance at a variety of other events and training.

PCA Member? Why you should take part in the CPD scheme

CPD is a personal commitment & investment to keeping both your company's and personal professional knowledge up to date and improving your capabilities. It ensures your capabilities keep pace with the current standards of others in the same field. CPD ensures that you maintain and enhance the knowledge and skills you need to deliver a professional service to your customers & clients.

CPD also helps you turn that accountability into a positive opportunity to identify and achieve your own objectives. As you develop & record a personal CPD journey, you will gradually be able to review what you have been learning over 12 months and will be able to set your development objectives for the coming year to continuously expand and improve your skills.

To be honest, you are probably doing alot of it already, but by formally recording your learning, you’ll show that you’re actively committed to your development.

What is the process?

Fundamentally, it’s a question of setting yourself objectives for development and then charting your progress towards achieving them.

For the PCA Scheme we ask that you register for the scheme and plan to accumulate 25 points during a year (please see the CPD point table for details of how you can earn points). You will record any CPD activity on your registration form, get it verified and supply any relevant evidence to support the development you’ve undertaken.

At least 12 of these points must now be verified by a third party (i.e., we will need to see a certificate of attendance, confirmation of a training course or signed documentation from an external source).

As of January 2019, we have decided to issue members of the CPD scheme a digital certificate to prove membership. A CPD profile will also be recorded digitally rather than in paper format. In a concerted effort to improve sustainability we will administer this scheme digitally to reduce the amount of plastic, paper and postage the scheme has generated in the past. However, moving forward shortly, there will soon be a new online platform for CPD recording that all participating PCA members can access.  Watch this space for it coming soon…

Is the scheme mandatory for PCA members?

For all our independent/freelance surveyors & consultant members, the scheme is mandatory.  Similarly, if you are registered within the ‘Waterproofing Design Register’, the scheme is also compulsory.

For members who wish to use the CSTDB designation rather than CSRT, you must also be on the CPD scheme and submit your yearly CPD points summary.

For all our other PCA members, the scheme is voluntary.  However, we do strongly suggest all PCA members that have surveying and technical members of staff take part in the scheme to ensure the skills and knowledge of your team are continuously kept up to date
