Research & Development

Investing in research and development as well as supporting knowledge partnership exchange is something the Property Care Association has always undertaken.

For a number of years, we have worked with major academic institutions such as University College London (UCL) and Leeds Beckett University as well as other organisations including UKCMB, The Timber Research & Development Association (TRADA) and many more.

The overarching aim is to continuously improve industry knowledge regarding issues that affect the sectors we represent, while gaining further insight into how we can better investigate and treat/repair remedial problems.

Investing in our 1st ‘Materials Research Scientist’

As the Property Care Association has grown, so have our ambitions to continue the research and development within the sectors we represent.  So much so, back in July 2019, we invested for the first time, and employed the Association’s first ‘Materials Research Scientist’.

Now as PCA’s Head of Research, Dr Paula Lopez-Arce is tasked with solving problems, providing advice and seeking further funding for research and development wherever she sees the potential to help PCA members practically. All the time, enhancing the Association’s reputation as an organisation leading knowledge and providing expertise.

Research & Development really takes off!

In 2021, and following 3 years of continued research and development, the Association achieved for the first time a NEW ground-breaking innovation by launching the ‘Condensation & Mould Diagnostic System'. This newly developed product is an innovative diagnostic & reporting tool like no other currently on the market. It can independently and reliably interpret environmental data whilst autonomously creating reports detailing the moisture risk to a building.

The success of new ground breaking products such as this, has ensured we plan to further research, develop, grow and expand our innovative products with the aim to help monitor and provide better indoor air quality environments within homes and buildings for all.
