Evaluating Ventilation in Existing Buildings
Who is this training course for?
To help improve knowledge and understanding, the PCA now provides a training course for the evaluation of ventilation in existing buildings. This 1-day course is aimed at those already involved or who wish to become involved in the surveying of dampness related problems in residential buildings. Ideally delegates should have a building/trade background as well as some related skill, knowledge or experience.
Issues caused by excessive atmospheric indoor moisture, such as mould growth, are becoming more commonplace. They occur when the indoor environment is unbalanced and ventilation plays a fundamental role ensuring the balance is kept.
Condensation and mould are the most common forms of dampness in buildings. Therefore it is becoming increasingly essential for anyone that inspects buildings to understand the significant role that ventilation plays in controlling these issues and how to identify defects in ventilation systems.
The course provides delegates with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify and understand ventilation systems 1—4 as defined in approved document F. The day will also cover PIV systems and probable defects that can occur within buildings.
