Supporting Mental Health Awareness

The majority of the Association’s members are SMEs (small to medium enterprises) who will undoubtedly experience huge amounts of pressure and strain, with little help or assistance. With the added uncertainty that Brexit has brought this year and with a December General Election thrown into the mix, it will certainly have been a tough year for all PCA members with an expected tough six months ahead!

Furthermore, the effects of mental health issues can have a huge impact on a business. This is an extremely topical matter and your Association has been working hard to support mental health awareness over the past few months and, into the year ahead.

Mental Health featured at the regional meetings

This year we were extremely pleased to have Russell Mott from ATAS UK present at all our Autumn regional meetings, who gave the official Building Mental Health Bronze Awareness “Toolbox Talk”. We were extremely pleased that this was embraced by all who attended the regional meetings and we are delighted to announce that in 2020, we will be running a number of two-day mental health first aid training courses, for PCA members only!

Supporting mental health initiatives

The PCA is proud to be supporting Building Mental Health, an initiative led by industry experts, providing support and advice to increase awareness of mental health. “Every working day, two construction workers take their own life. We have to educate everyone in our industry to recognise the signs and symptoms of our colleagues that are suffering from stress, anxiety or depression and start the conversation to assist in their recovery. Please join us now, our work is just beginning.”

Mental Health First Aid Course – PCA Members Only

This two-day course, exclusively for PCA members, will result in your employees being qualified as Mental Health First Aiders and will give them:

  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
