Bob Massey

Company: Bob Massey Associates

I took a summer job in 1975 with a newly formed Preservation Company in Bristol and 44 years later, I am still interested and enthusiastic about the industry and have a keen interest in mycology and entomology, alongside my investigative survey work.

Originally employed as a trainee technician, I quickly moved on to surveyor training, staying with the company for 11 years. In 1986 I decided to form my own contracting company which I traded until 1992 when the property market crashed. I reverted to doing everything from inspections, reports and preparing estimates. During this time I was given the opportunity to join a burgeoning manufacturer, Permagard Products Ltd as a technical sales representative working alongside David Wookey for approximately 13 years, before moving on to Wykamol in 2005. Five years later I decided the climate within the preservation industry had changed; I became aware of the need for independent surveyors and established my own specialist independent surveying company, which has traded successfully for 9 years.

Finally, I would like to put something back into the industry before I hang up my damp meter and put away the ladder.
