The Green Homes Grant
Welcome to our NEW Green Homes Grant hub. Whether you are a homeowner or a member of the Property Care Association, you will find a ‘hub’ of information available to help understand this Government initiative.
At the Property Care Association, we have been working behind the scenes to break down the information provided by the Government and TrustMark to our PCA members, explaining how they can get involved in the scheme. We have also ensured that this information is understood by homeowners and how they can take steps to help ensure any retrofit installation within the home does not cause adverse problems within the property.
As you might expect, news on the Green Homes Grant is constantly being released. We will be regularly updating this page with the most relevant developments and news on the scheme, what it means for homeowners and for PCA members, so please keep checking back.
What is the green Homes grant?
- Contribute to lowering the UK’s carbon footprint
- To enable homeowners to save on average £200 a year on their energy bills
- Help kickstart the economy by creating over 100,000 jobs
In order to fulfil this promise, the scheme will give over 600,000 homeowners in England up to £10,000 in grants to install insulation, heat pumps, draft proofing, and more, to help reduce the amount of energy we use up when heating our homes.

Let’s do it RIGHT – proceed with caution
Here at the PCA we believe that the government’s intentions are worthy and commendable. However, following some of the outcomes from similar schemes in the past, we would urge caution prior to any retrofit installation. Let’s ensure we do the job RIGHT first time and employ the services of competent contractors so that we do not see the consequences of poor retrofit insulation such as damp, mould and rot appearing in your homes.
Our homeowners guide to the ‘Green Homes Grant’ outlines a list of checks and provisions you can undertake to ensure that your home is suitable for retrofit insulation solutions.
If you need to be reminded of the consequences of irresponsible retrofit insulation, we have a page dedicated to highlighting that too. Click the button below to visit our homeowner’s section.
