Social Housing Regulations passes into law, August 23

Awaab's Law, a significant reform in the housing sector, has been enacted...but what does this mean for the many? CEO, Steve Hodgson discusses what the law requires from social housing landlords to promptly resolve damp and mould problems along with what measures will be in place for councils and housing associations. Although primarily focused on social housing (although private landlords may also face changes), this new law puts PCA members at the forefront when requiring specialists and proven competency in dealing with damp issues.

The importance of authoritative bodies surrounding "invasive" non-native plants

In his latest blog, Technical Manager Daniel Docking delves into the pivotal role played by many authoritative organisations within the invasive non-native species (INNS) industry. Dan highlights the importance of their contributions to the sector including; scientific studies, input to parliamentary debates, and valuable research. All this whilst raising the topic of the importance of consulting these professional bodies when faced with an invasive plant issue, rather than trusting unreliable online sources.

Awards video is released!

Menstruation, menstrual health and menopause in the workplace

Although the issue of menstrual health and menopause may be in the media more than ever at the moment, the topic of how it affects employees within the workplace – particularly in a male dominated industry such as ours – has never really been discussed.

Fortunately, BSI has produced a free standard (BS 30416:2023) designed to help organisations support employees. It sets out practical recommendations for workplace adjustments, as well as strategies to sit alongside existing well-being initiatives.

The standard is worth a read (for both men and women!), to highlight what companies should be considering alongside recommendations to promote supportive workplaces cultures. You can download the document below...

RICS Japanese Knotweed & Invasive Plants Webinar
Technical Manager Daniel Docking will be hosting a webinar for RICS on 16th August. Daniel will be discussing how bamboo and other invasive plants have similar properties to Japanese Knotweed and understanding the risks associated with invasive plants.
