What's in store for the waterproofing conference?

The PCA conferences have always been our flagship events for the industry, where we showcase best practice, share knowledge and expertise. Our first of the year is our International Structural Waterproofing Conference, taking place on 20th July, and to use a phrase coined from a previous event, it is a chance for us to be 'waterproofing geeks'.

For the first time, we offered 'early bird tickets' at a discounted rate for those that managed to book early. Incredibly, and before we have even published the programme, approximately 120 spaces have already been snapped up - meaning we are already up to 60% capacity!

Watch this space as the programme and speakers are released

As we start to finalise the speaker programme, we are confident that the remaining tickets will soon go too. Over the course of the coming weeks/months we will be providing more detail on the speakers, topics and what you can expect from this years conference, so keep an eye out...

But to whet your appetite, here is a taster of what's on the agenda and what we have to look forward to:

  • The Building Safety Act looks set to make huge changes across the construction industry, but what will it mean for members and how could we look to make sure we embrace the changes?
  • Consideration of sustainability is more commonplace within the procurement process and there will be some focus on this, where we will look at the use of sheet piling as an alternative for concrete carbon neutral.
  • Ground Gas Protection and its synergy with waterproofing during the design stage of a project.

A panel of 'waterproofing geeks'

The event will also include the usual panel debate, where we introduce a hand-picked group of “waterproofing geeks” to discuss some of the most pressing topics in industry, including the skills shortage.

To round the day off we will be welcoming back an old friend, Rob Withers, ASUC who will be examining the legal, technical, and planning requirements of temporary works for basements and underground structures.

Network with industry experts

As an event which is open to all, members and non-members alike, we would reiterate that anyone who has an interest in the world of structural waterproofing should attend and will be made very welcome.

Like always, these events provide a great opportunity to network and engage with peers in the industry. As a group of highly skilled professionals, members of the Property Care Association lead the way in the pursuit of knowledge and excellence and it would be great to have you with us. We very much look forward to seeing you there…
