PCA 2014 Conference Raises Funds For Children’s Charity

Generous members raised £1,800 for the Sick Children’s Trust, during the charity raffle held at the Property Care Association’s (PCA) flagship conference and awards, which took place at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.

The fund-raising event topped the PCA’s most successful conference and awards to date, bringing together academics and experts, manufacturers and contractors to discuss the latest developments in the industry and celebrate achievements.

Representatives from the PCA presented a cheque to Patsy Glazebrook, who is Vice President of the charity’s Cambridgeshire Committee. The presentation took place at the PCA’s headquarters in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.

The Sick Children’s Trust believes every family with a seriously ill child in hospital should be able to stay together, just minutes from their child’s bed during their treatment.

Founded in 1982 by two paediatric specialists, Dr Jon Pritchard and Professor James Malpas, the charity provides free, high-quality ‘home from home’ accommodation, where parents and siblings can stay when a child of that family is seriously ill in hospital.

It currently has nine houses offering clean, comfortable accommodation where the whole family can stay close to their sick child’s bedside, including Acorn House and Chestnut House, at Cambridge’s Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

Acorn House can accommodate 15 families at any one time and nine families can stay at Chestnut House.

Sue Uttridge, the PCA’s Company Secretary, organised the charity raffle. She said: “We were overwhelmed by the generosity shown for this exceptional charity, both from those who donated money and sponsored the raffle prizes. It was a rewarding end to a very successful day.”
