Six more Apprentices gain their Level 2 NVQ’s

This month we were delighted to issue six more Level 2 NVQ certificates in Insulation and Building Treatments (Wood Preserving & Damp-proofing) to candidates that have now completed their PCA Apprenticeship programme. This brings the total number of NVQ’s issued under the PCA Damp & Timber Apprenticeship (SAP) to fourteen.

The programme has been running since 2015 and we have successfully inducted five cohorts with another intake planned for October this year. The apprentices that received their certificates this week started the programme in May 2016 and have worked incredibly hard to achieve their NVQ’s over the past two years. They should be immensely proud of both their individual achievements and their achievement as a group.

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them on their success!

An Apprenticeship is a fantastic way for you to provide relevant training to your new starters and existing technicians, resulting in a Level 2 NVQ at the end of the programme. This NVQ can be used to gain the relevant CSCS card.

Apprentice employer Neil said:

I had the opportunity to visit the PCA Training Centre when I was down in Huntingdon recently to meet up with Neil Marsden and the new cohort on the PCA Apprenticeship scheme.

It was a pleasure to see the energy and enthusiasm of the individuals on the Apprenticeship and also to see and hear how much they are enjoying the course.

Neil’s leadership gains their respect very quickly and it was very refreshing to watch these future technicians getting on with the task they were given without actually being stood over.

I came away from the visit with a feeling that the Industry really will move forward with Apprentice schemes like these and that our future technicians will be well trained and a credit to the Industry “

Following recent changes the Apprenticeship will now run for 18 months. The classroom and practical training takes place in the first 12 months and the on site assessment is carried out in the last 6 months.

The SAP is fully supported by the CITB and benefits from substantial grant funding subject to eligibility.
