The need to use a structural waterproofing expert

Unfortunately failures in structural and basement waterproofing resulting from inadequate specifications or poor workmanship are usually very costly to put right. Waterproofing structures that are below ground is a highly specialised operation and must involve contractors and designers who have the requisite levels of knowledge of the three different waterproofing systems (Type A, B and C) along with the skill, understanding and experience to make sure that the job is completed correctly and the property remains watertight.

To help put you in contact with such a structural waterproofing expert, The PCA have created the Register of Waterproofing Design Specialists – a central register of qualified members who have been assessed and deemed competent to work as part of a project design team when planning the construction of underground structures and to oversee the installation of the waterproofing systems in both residential and commercial properties.

Structural waterproofing for homeowners

Structural waterproofing is a necessary step when converting an unused mouldy, damp or leaking space into a habitable room. Enlisting the help of our approved structural waterproofing contractors provides all the assurances you need to feel secure that the new structure will conform to industry standards and remain watertight.

To achieve PCA membership candidates must demonstrate that they are specialists in diagnosing and providing solutions for preventing or controlling water penetration through structures below ground level and all qualified individuals should have a CSSW certification. Additionally, our structural waterproofing members can offer homeowners guarantees that others cannot match. Our exclusive ‘PCA Promise’ guarantee means that should your chosen company go out of business before the work is completed, then another PCA contractor will complete the work to the original specification at no extra cost to you.
